It was a long flight, changing planes in Singapore. Somewhere along the way we lost about 8 hours in time zones, so we feel exhausted - it's mid afternoon here and late at night in Kiwi time!
We got a glimpse of Everest as the plane approached Kathmandu, there was some cloud cover, but Everest just showed above - seeming to be about the same altitude as the plane!
We are in a 5 star hotel with amazing handcrafted timber, bricks, I'll post some photos when I can - they are really looking after us. We have a day off tomorrow and our first gig on Wednesday.

How's the weather? The internet forcast said "flash floods" and "tons of rain". I bet you're pleased you packed that raincoat!

ReplyDeleteWe are having a great time. We have this cool young guy who looks after us 24/7 as he puts it - his name is "Kabin” but we call him Kevin. He loves the blues and is a very good guitarist. We had a jam with him last night which was fun.
Kevin took us up town Monday night for a traditional Nepalese meal. The whole trip was like a light and sound show. There were people every where; cars, bikes, police, horses, rickshaws, car horns, dogs, thousands of people and this is up town 7:30 pm Monday night. You have to be here to understand how it feels. He took up this dark alley, one person wide, to a restaurant (???) food place. We sat in this concrete room 2 stories up from the kitchen, we had just walked through and we enjoyed the delights of Pomegranate whisky (more like a schnapps or vodka) and a meal of tiny deep-fried fish (like white bait), buffalo tongue, several veggie cakes, brain and bone marrow, goat etc. It was an amazing experience.
