Last night's gig was a festival concert at this beautiful former palace, dating back to the late 19th century. It is now a restaurant complex, with beautiful gardens and water features. After dark, with lighting and candles, it made a magnificent stage:
As at the previous night's festival concert, each act only had 30 minutes, then squeezed down to 20 minutes - scarcely time to warm up. But we powered into it - and included a slow blues, and the whole set went down well, finishing on "The Blues Is Alright" with the whole Nepali audience singing the chorus!
Kathmandu shuts down around 10.30 - quite literally. Half way through the set of a Norwegian guitar virtuoso, the power went off - switched off by the authorities. After 10 minutes of negotiations, including the American embassy who had sponsored the event, the power came up again. But dead on midnight, with one of the Australian acts still to go on, it was shut down for good.
We made lots of friends, good to yap backstage with Australian Jimmy Hocking and also Parachute XVI, a trio of cool young dudes form Bangalore in India, playing Cream, Hendrix, etc.

Wow! looks amazing!!
